The Flash's Barry Allen became swept up in hero work after a particle accelerator explosion resulted in him gaining super speed. After waking up from his nine-month coma, Barry realized his new abilities and identity as a meta-human, coming out as Central City's leading hero. Unlike Oliver Queen, who had kicked off the Arrowverse before The Flash arrived, Barry was an upbeat person. Although Barry's past contained the tragedy of his mother's murder and father's time in prison, he was still raised to have a positive outlook on life by Joe. Following his mother's death, Barry believed in the impossible when no one else did, which meant that when the time arrived, Barry transitioned into the leader of Team Flash as he fully embraced his new identity as a speedster.
