The main character in a TV show is often a fan favorite. We spend the most time with them and get to know their motivations, wants, and desires on a level far deeper than the other characters on their show. The protagonists viewers most often connect with are the ones who feel like real people. Perfect people aren’t interesting in real life or on the screen, so having flaws is crucial to good character development. Yet there are some (very unlikable) protagonists whose frustrating traits outweigh their positive ones.
