HBO's The Last of Us was an excellent adaptation of Naughty Dog's video game franchise of the same name, but things nearly turned out much differently as a feature film adaptation was in the works back in 2013. Kaitlyn Dever, who joins Season 2 of HBO's adaptation as Abby, a major character in the franchise moving forwards, recently revealed a bombshell about the failed film, including her surprising potential casting. When The Last of Us debuted in 2023, it was the final nail in the coffin for the dreaded video game curse. But, had the movie come out a decade earlier, who knows if it would have lived up to the same standard?
