Three decades after its release, The Lion King remains a potent powder keg of a movie that hasn’t lost its deadly bite or relevance. The Disney flick about a young lion reclaiming his throne after his evil uncle murdered his father was a major success when it came out, grossing $763 million at the box office. At the time, it became the second-highest-grossing film of all time. It also became the highest-grossing animated film until it was replaced by Finding Nemo.
