As someone who has digested almost every new crime thriller of the past decade or so, two of my all-time favorites from the 2010s pushed the genre to new boundaries. In 2010, the BBC's Sherlock redefined the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story by setting it in the present day. In 2017, Netflix's Mindhuntertraced the early days of the FBI's criminal profiling unit during the 1970s, designed to understand the psychology of serial murderers and prevent future crimes from happening. As great as each show is independently, what if you could combine the two?
