With the true crime entertainment of the 2010s and 2020s still in full swing, it seems that what was once considered a passing fad is here to stay. With it, we've also gotten what feels like an endless "Summer of Scam," a term first coined to describe an overarching few months in 2018 when a handful of high-profile fraudsters and con artists (most notably Anna Delvey, the "fake German heiress" who tricked financial institutions, hotels, and even close friends out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, inspiring the Netflix limited series Inventing Anna).
