Netflix has been in the horror game virtually ever since the DVD rental service went all-in on streaming. Titles like House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black might have been the shows they used to highlight the platform's prestige, but another one of its earlier titles was Hemlock Grove, which was produced by Eli Roth. It might not have become a complete sensation, though its early success helped open the door to one of the most popular TV shows of the past decade: Stranger Things. Part of the appeal of that show was how it blended together horror with sci-fi and action-adventure elements, though the streamer still kept their overtly horrifying stories coming.
