While this year has been massive for movies, which includes the biggest box office weekend in recorded history, 2026 has also been big for anniversaries for some of the best movies of all time. These 12 months alone will give viewers a chance to celebrate release anniversaries for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), the first Mission: Impossible (1996), and another Tom Cruise mega-hit, Top Gun (1986). With the year far from over, there are still plenty of historical movies left to celebrate as well.
