After its "stomach-churning" theatrical debut in July — according to MovieWeb critic Julian Roman — the sixth installment in the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Burn, left a significant scar on audiences and critics (for better or worse). The consensus was a bit mixed, with some critics praising the film for its engaging use of practical effects, intense gore, and exploration of family trauma in the most gutsy way possible (literally). However, others found themselves disappointed by the general lack of humor and weak character writing. The overall Rotten Tomatoes score was still positive, however, holding at 70% after 200-plus reviews.
