Although Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) says many clever quotes throughout The X-Files, her line from an underrated episode is one of her most brilliant. Scully's intelligence is an important part of her character arc. The famously doubtful counterpart to Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) cares deeply about doing her job properly, which leads to tension with those around her who don't always take her side or think she's on the right track. Scully approaches the world with a mixture of confidence and softness that makes her one of the best sci-fi TV characters.
