A few TV shows come to mind when we think of the best Western miniseries ever made. The Kevin Costner-led Hatfields & McCoys showed us just how ugly family feuds can get. Taylor Sheridan’s 10-episode Yellowstone prequel 1883 is filled with rich characters and great backstories, and some critics consider it superior to the original show. However, the overwhelmingly positive reception of one particular miniseries (98% on Rotten Tomatoes, as of October 2026) makes it deserving of the crown.
