Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley character Tom Ripley has been adapted many times, from Purple Noon in 1960 to Ripley's Game in 2002. Perhaps the most famous Ripley adaptation starred Matt Damon as the titular con artist and Jude Law as his friend/victim, Dickie Greenleaf. 25 years later, Netflix has released a television adaptation from Schindler's List writer Steve Zaillian, simply titled Ripley. While it was praised by critics, Ripley hasn't been too popular with audiences, but Jude Law certainly liked it, even if he thinks it's completely different from his The Talented Mr. Ripley.
