The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is gearing up to make some bold swings in its sophomore season. The show, which debuted on Prime Video in 2022, has proven to be a fairly divisive one among Lord of the Rings fans. While some have praised the show for its incredible visuals and its willingness to differentiate itself from the films directed by Peter Jackson, others have objected to the shows approach to adapting the stories of Middle-earths Second Age. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have certainly shown a willingness to depart from Tolkiens original texts, though the changes that have been made have left many die-hard fans torn over the series.
