That character is none other than Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, who finally got his happy ending with Peggy Carter in the final moment of Endgame– or so we thought. After assembling Earth's Mightiest Heroes, defeating Thanos, and returning the Infinity Stones to their rightful timelines, Steve does not return to the present day in his younger form. Instead, he comes back as an old man and passes on the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson, a symbolic gesture that led fans to believe actor Chris Evans was done with both the role and the Marvel franchise.
