There’s a target demographic for David Wain’s Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, and I’ll be quick to admit I’m not in the crowd. Wain, whose Wet Hot American Summer celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, has demonstrated his mastery of period-specific spoofs that lean into genre tropes even while poking fun at convention. Sadly, his latest is too disjointed and half-baked to garner anything other than the occasional laugh or wince; you can feel the diminishing returns as the minutes painfully tick by.
