The Marvel Cinematic Universe has an interesting history with romance. From Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter to Wanda Maximoff and Vision, and Peter Parker and MJ, the MCU has its fair share of romances. Yet as the multi-billion-dollar franchise has progressed, the romantic elements have been significantly downplayed. Whereas early MCU films like Iron Man and Thor placed a great deal of emphasis on romance, newer entries like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Captain America: Brave New World ignore it.
