Every creator’s dream is to make something that can never be topped, something that can be imitated but never matched or surpassed. That’s what the three-time Oscar-winning filmmaker William Wyler did in the 1950s. Wyler adapted Lew Wallace's 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ into the biblical epic, Ben-Hur, his magnum opus. 67 years later, most of the film’s elements remain supreme, including the nine-minute chariot race that’s widely regarded as the greatest cinematic action sequence.
