Kockroach is an upcoming movie from director Matt Ross, based on the book of the same name by William Lashner. It is about — and you may want to take a breath and steady yourself before you read this — a literal cockroach, as in the insect, who wakes up one day to find that they have been transformed into a man. It's an intentional reversal of what happens to the main character in Franz Kafka's 1915 novella The Metamorphosis. Cockroaches being adaptable creatures, the man quickly learns to walk on two legs, to dress and feed himself, and to find work. He becomes a mob enforcer, and then a mob boss, and finally a politician.
