When Timothy Olyphant first portrayed U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens in Justified in 2010, he was the second actor to do so, following James LeGros in the 1997 TV movie Pronto. Olyphant's performance in the hit neo-Western series was so commanding that Elmore Leonard, who created the novel character, admitted that the actor was the perfect choice. According to Leonard, he even delivered lines exactly as they sounded when he wrote them. Looking back, it's clear that Olyphant's previous Western series was the perfect training ground to graduate from co-star to series lead.
