Supergirl finally delivers on the promise James Gunn made to the DCU back when the slate was announced in 2023. The first three titles in the DCU — Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker Season 2 — were all created by Gunn. However, 2026 will be the first test of how the shared cinematic universe will thrive without Gunn as the sole creative driver, with projects like Lanterns, Clayface, and of course, Supergirl.
