For more than two decades, people everywhere have celebrated Public Domain Day every January 1. That's the date that previously copyrighted material can legally be shared without permission or fee, thus allowing the preservation of cultural materials that might otherwise be lost to history. As 2026 fast approaches, works published in 1930 are set to enter the U.S. public domain, including one of the best anti-war movies ever made.
