When HBO and crime series are mentioned in the same breath, the first TV programs that immediately come to mind are the Mount Rushmore of The Sopranos, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, and True Detective. Genuinely at the vanguard of how TV shows depict flawed leading characters, HBO has led all other premium cable channels in pushing the crime genre to daring new heights in the past 25 years. And yet, the prestigious limited series created by masterful screenwriter Steve Zaillian 10 years ago remains criminally overlooked.
